After falling behind by as many as 22 points with 13 minutes remaining in the game, the Bearcats mounted a furious comeback, closing the gap with a combination of jumpers, free throws and three-point buckets. Cincinnati got within three points at 61-58 following a triple from senior Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods), but the Seminoles held on to the lead with a 63-58 final score.

Senior Jeanise Randolph (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) led the Bearcats with 15 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field. It was the first time this season she has scored in double-digits and the 15th time in her career. She also collected 10 rebounds for her fifth career double-double.

Hollins added 12 points for her second consecutive double figure scoring effort. Sophomore Alexis Durley (Houston, Texas/Andy Dekaney) dished out a game-high and career-high seven assists for the Bearcats while four different UC players registered a block in the contest.

Collectively, Cincinnati (0-2) shot 36.5 percent from the floor after connecting on 51.7 percent in the second half. The Bearcats outrebounded the Seminoles 43-30, including 21 offensive rebounds that created 13 second chance points for UC. The Cincinnati bench also outscored that of its opponents 33-8.

After the Seminoles opened the game with a layup, the Bearcats rattled off nine unanswered points, including seven from Hollins. The senior began the scoring by draining an off-balance three as the shot clock expired, and also added two layups during the run.

The Cincinnati lead grew to nine points following a pull-up three-pointer by freshman Bianca Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh), but Florida State clawed its way back. The Seminoles used 15 first-half points from Morgan Jones and closed out the remaining five minutes and 14 second of the stanza with a 15-2 scoring run to hold a 28-21 halftime lead.

Florida State surged out of the halftime break with an 11-2 scoring run to gain a 39-23 lead. The Seminoles looked to cruise to an easy victory, but the Bearcats had other plans in mind.

A 17-6 UC run made it a 54-43 score with 7:05 remaining and an additional 9-0 run brought the Bearcats to within 57-52 with 2:34 to play. Randolph had two layups and senior Kayla Cook (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) hit a trey from the top of the key during the FSU scoring drought.

The Bearcats cut the lead to three points at 61-58 with 10 seconds left following a three-point basket by Hollins but could not score the rest of the way.

Cincinnati will be back in action on Sun., Nov. 17 when it plays host to Kent State at 2 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.
