CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team used a late first half run to defeat Ohio State, 64-49, Sunday in non-conference action inside Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati (5-4) picked up its first win over Ohio State (7-6) in over 25 years. The Bearcats last defeated the Buckeyes on Dec. 10, 1988 in a 64-58 win in Cincinnati.

With UC trailing 23-22 with 2:41, the Bearcats went on a 7-0 run to end the half and never looked back, moving the margin to as many as 15 at the final buzzer.

Both teams struggled from the floor with UC shooting 35 percent (21-60) and OSU shooting 33.3 percent (21-63). The Bearcats got to the line 21 times, making 17 while Ohio State was 5-for-7 from the charity stripe. UC leads the American Athletic Conference in free-throw percentage (.764) and ranks in the Top-30 nationally.

UC held a 45-35 advantage on the boards, and turned 14 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points. The Bearcats also got 14 points off the bench and scored 16 of their points on the fast break.

Jeanise Randolph (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) led the way with her third double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds tied her season high. Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods/Michigan) led all players with 17 points and went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line to move her three-game streak of consecutive free throws made to 18. Alyesha Lovett (Newark, N.J./Malcolm X Shabazz) set season highs with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Ameryst Alston and Darryce Moore led the Buckeyes with 12 points apiece while Cait Craft poured in 10. Raven Ferguson and Moore tied for the team lead with seven boards apiece, while Moore and Martina Ellerbe each blocked three shots.

Cincinnati held a six-point advantage at the break, with a 9-for-10 effort from the free-throw line as the main advantage. The first half featured eight lead changes and eight ties in a see-saw battle in the first 20 minutes. UC knocked down a pair of threes and held a 23-17 advantage on the offensive glass.

The Bearcats return to action against Akron on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. ET inside Fifth Third Arena, UC's final non-conference home game of the season. UC starts a two-game road trip on Dec. 21 at Xavier (2 p.m.) and opens American Athletic Conference play on Dec. 29 at UConn (5 p.m.).
