CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's lacrosse team fell to No. 18/20 Louisville, 23-2, on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats (6-6, 0-2 BIG EAST) got goals from Ashley Helmrath (Ellicott City, Md./Maryvale Preparatory) and Courtney Curtis (Mason, Ohio/William Mason). Dani Tunnell (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and Taylor Young (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) contributed assists.

Louisville (8-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) was led by hat tricks from Laura Patterson, Cortnee Daley and Hannah Koloski. Faye Brust, Colleen O'Malley, Nikki Boltja and Anna Kopecka each posted a pair of goals. Jamie Redding contributed a goal and five assists, while Patterson also had a pair of assists. Despite not scoring, Kaylin Morissette may have been UofL's most valuable player, winning 14 draw controls.

Morrisette's ability to win draws helped Louisville control the ball for most of the game. The Cardinals jumped to a 5-0 lead before Curtis scored on a feed from Tunnell. The Bearcats' second goal came with 4:01 left in the first half, with Helmrath scoring from Young.

Meg Gulmi (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) did her best in the cage, making 14 saves in just over 46 minutes of action before giving way to Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) in relief. Louisville's Ashley Herbst made two saves in earning the victory.

The Bearcats will head to Philadelphia for a pair of league games next weekend as they look to get back on the winning side of the ledger. UC faces Villanova on Friday, April 11, before visiting Temple on Sunday, April 13.
