CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished the first 36 holes of the Cardinal Cup Monday afternoon at the University of Louisville Golf Course in Simpsonville, Ky.
The Bearcats are in 12th place out of 17 teams after 36 of 54 holes. UC shot a first-round 309 before capping the day with a team score of 314.

"We had ourselves in good position after the first 16 holes and then we lost our focus," noted head coach Janet Carl. "We're seeing some of our work in practice pay off but we need to go out and put together a strong round tomorrow."

Cincinnati was led on Monday by sophomore Tara Liebert (Mason, Ohio/Mason), who carded a one-over-par 73 during the first 18 holes before finishing with a 79 during the second round. Liebert finished tied for fourth among the field in birdies during the day with five. Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) recorded three birdies Monday and is second among UC golfers with a score of 77-77=154
