Series Notes
- Cincinnati has now won 15 of 21 games with Temple, including six of seven contests played in the Queen City. The win moves the Bearcats to 2-1 versus Temple in Fifth Third Arena.
Team Notes
- Head coach Mick Cronin used the starting lineup of Ge'Lawn Guyn (G), Sean Kilpatrick (G), Shaquille Thomas (F), Titus Rubles (F) and Justin Jackson (F) for the 18th time in 18 games.
- The victory gives UC its 15th-straight victory at Fifth Third Arena (13-0 this season, last two games last season). It marks the fourth-longest win streak at Fifth Third, which opened for the 1989-90 season. It is also the longest home win streak under Cronin.
- The win moves UC to 5-0 in American Athletic Conference play. It marks the best start in league play for the Bearcats since they opened Conference USA play 6-0 in 2002-03.
- In holding Temple to 58 points, the Bearcats have now held each opponent this season below 67 points and have not allowed more than 70 points in 25-straight contests. That is the longest active streak in the nation. The UC record is 35-straight games (1962 NCAA Final-Dec. 20, 1963).
- The Bearcats used an 11-0 run midway through the first half (11:03-7:01) to build a 21-11 lead. It marked the 25th run of at least 8-0 by UC this year. The Owls' 8-0 run to close the first half (1:50-0:04), paired with another 10-0 run midway through the second half (10:12-7:24), were just the eighth and ninth such runs by UC opponents this season.
- UC went went on its 26th run of at least 8-0 to pull away late in the second half. The Bearcats used a 12-0 run (6:27-3:12) to turn a two-point deficit into a 10-point lead. The Owls would get no closer than six points over the final three minutes.
- Cincinnati's three seniors in the starting lineup combined for 51 of the team's 69 points.
- The Bearcats shot worse than their opponent from the field for just the sixth time in 18 games, but they are now 4-2 when the opponent is better from the floor.
- Cincinnati improved to 12-0 when out-rebounding the opponent. The Bearcats held a 37-35 edge on the glass.
- UC improved to a perfect 6-0 on Tuesdays.
Individual Notes
- Kilpatrick matched a season-high with 23 points and now has 1,779 in his career. He moves into sixth place on the UC all-time scoring list, passing Pat Cummings who scored 1,762 points from 1975-79.
- Kilpatrick moved into the top-five all-time at UC in three-pointers made. His six tonight give him 264 for his career, passing Steve Logan who made 258 from 1998-2002.
- Kilpatrick played in his 124th consecutive game against the Owls. He is third on the UC consecutive games played chart and now just five starts from breaking into the top-10 for games played.
- Kilpatrick's three steals matched a season high and marked the 12th time in his career the senior had at least three steals in a contest.
- Playing 32 minutes, Kilpatrick has now played in 3,728 during his time in the red and black. He stands fourth all-time in that category.
- Connecting for six three-pointers, Kilpatrick had his best performance from beyond the arc in conference play this season, while matching his season best.
- Recording six blocks, Jackson how has 182 for his career. The senior will likely finish fourth all-time in rejections, as third place is Jason Maxiell with 252.
- Jackson has now had at least three blocks in 14 of 18 games this season.
- Jackson's double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) is his sixth of the season and of the season and his career.
- Rubles' double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) is his first of the season and the second of his career.
- Troy Caupain's five assists led the team and marked the seventh time in the rookie's campaign he has had at least three helpers.
