Bearcats in Eighth Place at FIU Pat Bradley

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished the first round of the 37th Annual FIU Pat Bradley in eighth place. Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) shot a team-best 77 at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Cassidy recorded one birdie and three bogeys during her round Sunday. Cassidy is currently eight strokes behind the individual leader, Michaela Fletcher of Memphis. Her 5-over-par 77 was better than her season average by one stroke.

For the round, Cincinnati shot a 6-over par 78 from Christina Gloor and Stefanie Mitchell. UC was also aided by a 79 from Valentina Herrera and Mackenzie Moir.

"We played 12 strong holes today and were in great position before the final six holes hurt our chances," noted head coach Janet Carl. "We need to figure out how to get through the entire round. We will readjust our game plan in an effort to complete those last six holes stronger."

After the first round, Memphis (288) leads by six shots, ahead of Daytona (294) in second and FIU (295) rounding out the top three.
