Day Two Results | Day One Recap
OXFORD, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati continued its strong performance at the RedHawk Invitational on Friday. UC used one individual victory and one relay win on each the men's and women's side of competition to hold steady with the men in second and the women in third through two days of competition at Miami University.
// KEIRE PICKS UP THIRD WIN
Jackie Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) recorded her third individual win of the meet on Friday in the 200 freestyle. The sophomore swam a preliminary time of 1:49.75 en route to a mark of 1:46.67 to capture first-place points.
Keire won the 50 and 500 freestyles on day one of competition on Thursday.
// WOMEN TAKE FIRST RELAY
Keire led the Bearcats to another set of first-place points in the 800 freestyle relay. She led off the UC team, followed by Hope Andrews (St. Petersburg, Fla./Shorecrest Prep), Iuliia Fedoreeva (Barnaul, Russia/Barnaul) and Sara Wanasek (Burlington, Wis./Burlington). The quartet finished in 7:23.53, just ahead of a Denison team which clocked in at 7:23.71.
// HOLDER WINS ON MEN'S SIDE
Eitan Holder (Caracas, Venezuela/Aviv (Israel)) collected the first individual men's win of the weekend in the 100 butterfly. Holder posted a prelim time of 48.79 before going just a bit quicker in the final, touching in 48.78 to win the event. Holder followed up his win by placing second in the 200 freestyle. He swam the quickest prelim time at 1:38.08 before finishing second in the final at 1:38.42, just two one-hundredths of a second behind Denison's Stuart Hohm.
It continued a strong weekend for Holder, who earned a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle and a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle on Thursday.
// MEN CONTINUE RELAY STRENGTH
The men's team won its second relay of the RedHawk Invitational, taking the 800 freestyle relay in 6:37.62. Mike Kaplan (South Euclid, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) led off the Bearcats group, followed by Holder, Connor Davis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and Dean Waite (Valrico, Fla./Bloomingdale).
The Cincinnati men captured the 200 freestyle on Thursday's opening day of competition at Miami.
