UC Tied for Third after First Round of Bearcat Spring Classic

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.
- The University of Cincinnati women's golf team is tied for third place after the first round of the Bearcat Classic hosted by UC at Mission Inn's Los Colinas Course.



// HOSTING DUTIES
The Bearcats are hosting their second event this season after hosting the Bearcat Fall Classic in October. UC has welcomed 17 teams to the event which will run from March 20-22 with 18 holes of golf scheduled for each day.



// FIRST ROUND NOTES
Friday's first round was delayed over two hours thanks to a heavy fog that settled in on the course. Five tee groups were moved to starting on the 10th tee in an effort to keep play on schedule.



// TOP FIVE TEAMS
Memphis was the only team Friday to shoot a sub-300 round Friday, taking hold of first-place with a score of 298. North Dakota State was second at 303 while the trio of Seton Hall, Cincinnati and Seminole State all tied for 3rd with scores of 312.



// CINCINNATI SCORES
The Bearcats were led Friday by Stefanie Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) who turned in a round of 77 to sit tied for 19th. Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and Christina Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) were just one stroke back, tied for 19th at six-over-par.

Mackenzie Moir (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) turned in the top score by an individual Friday with a round of 78. The senior recorded an eagle on the par-five 13.

The second round will kick off Saturday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. UC is set to tee off starting at 10:10 a.m.
