CINCINNATI -- Freshman Treg Haberkorn (Leo, Ind./Leo) hit his first-career homerun and drove in a career-high three runs to lead the University of Cincinnati baseball team to a 6-2 victory over Memphis on Friday night at Marge Schott Stadium. The win was the fourth in the last five games for the Bearcats.

- Cincinnati improves to 10-21 on the year and 3-4 in the American Athletic Conference with the victory while Memphis drops to 21-9 and 4-3.
- Senior Ryan Atkinson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) picked up the win to go to 3-3 on the year and Memphis starting pitcher Caleb Wallingford took the loss and dropped to 3-4. UC freshman Jarod Yoakam (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) pitched four scoreless innings to earn the first save of his career.
- Head coach Ty Neal penciled five freshmen into the starting lineup and has started at least four youngsters in each game this season. Freshmen Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill./Grant) and Manny Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Calvert Hall) have started every game for UC.
- Junior Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) went 0-4 on the evening, snapping a 28-game on base streak.
-Sophomore R.J. Thompson (Mason, Ohio/Ohio) singled in the second inning to increase his on base streak to 11 games and his hit streak to five games.
- Haberkorn's seventh-inning homerun was the first of his young career. He also notched a career-best three RBIs and recorded his second multi-hit game with a double in the second inning.
- Junior Devin Wenzel (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) tied his career high with a pair doubles against the Tigers.
- For the first time this season, no Bearcats batter recorded a strikeout. The previous low was four strikeouts in an 11-2 win over Toledo on March 15.

Top of the Second
Memphis took an early 1-0 lead when Tucker Tubbs knocked his sixth home run on the year over the left field wall to lead off the inning.
Bottom of the First
Cincinnati answered right away, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second. With Yoakam on third and Wenzel on second after back-to-back hits, junior Woody Wallace (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) singled to score Wenzel before two Memphis errors brought Yoakam home to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead. Haberkorn followed with a double to score Wallace and sophomore R.J. Thompson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) added to the score with an RBI-single to give the Bearcats a 4-1 lead.
Bottom of the Seventh
Haberkorn extended the Bearcats' lead to 6-2 in the seventh with his first-career homerun. With Wallace on first, the freshman sent an 0-2 pitch over the right field fence to solidify the victory for Cincinnati.
