CINCINNATI
-- The University of Cincinnati baseball team gave up seven runs in the final three innings to fall 8-3 to Memphis on Saturday night at Marge Schott Stadium. Freshman David Orndorff (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena Polytechnic) put up a solid start on the mound, giving the Bearcats a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning, but the bullpen could not close it out. 

// NOTABLES
    - Cincinnati falls to 10-22 on the year and 3-5 in the American Athletic Conference with the loss while Memphis improve to 22-9 and 5-3.
    - Sophomore Andrew Zellner (Farmersville, Ohio/Valley View) took the loss to go to 2-1 on the year and Memphis starting pitcher Dylan Toscano earned the victory to improve his record to 5-1.  
    - Head coach Ty Neal penciled six freshmen into the starting lineup and has started at least four youngsters in each game this season. Freshmen Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill./Grant) and Manny Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Calvert Hall) have started every game for UC.
    - Orndorff tied a career high with 6.0 innings pitched in tonight's contest.
    - Sophomore R.J. Thompson (Mason, Ohio/Ohio) was hit by a pitch in the first inning to increase his on base streak to 12 games. Additionally, freshman Jarod Yoakam (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) bumped his on base streak to eight straight games while Noda has reached safely in seven straight.
     - Noda also extended his hit streak to six games with an RBI-double in the first inning.
    - Junior Woody Wallace (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) picked up his first triple on the year.
    - Rodriguez notched his second-career multi-hit game after registering a single and a double. 

// KEY INNINGS           
Bottom of the First
Thompson led off the frame with a hit by pitch and Noda doubled to put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Junior Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) then hit a sac fly to shallow center field to bring Thompson home and give the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead.
Top of the Second
Tucker Tubbs led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third base after back-to-back outs. Jake Little's infield single brought Tubbs across the plate to tie the game at one apiece.
Bottom of the Fifth
With Kyle Mottice (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Jackson) on first after a walk, Wallace followed up with a triple to left center to help Cincinnati regain the lead. Freshman Treg Haberkorn (Leo, Ind./Leo) added to the score with a single up the middle that scored Wallace, pushing the Bearcats' lead to 3-1.
Top of the Eighth
Memphis tied the game again in the eighth when Kane Barrow doubled to right field, scoring Darien Tubbs and advancing Brandon Montgomery to third base. A Chris Carrier ground out led Montgomery home and gave the Tigers their first lead of evening at 4-3.
Top of the Ninth
A 3-run homerun by Darien Tubbs and a solo shot by Montgomery gave Memphis an insurmountable 8-3 lead in the ninth.

The Bearcats and the Tigers will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Marge Schott Stadium.
