University of Cincinnati associate head track & field coach and UC alum Chris Wineberg has been inducted into the Greater Cincinnati Running Hall of Fame.

Wineberg has been a staple in the Cincinnati track & field community for more than a decade with running collegiately at UC and serving as a full-time coach for the Bearcats since 2006.

As a student-athlete, Wineberg was a two-time conference champion in the decathlon at UC and an All-American in 2004. He holds the school record in the decathlon with a score of 7,584. Wineberg graduated from UC in 2004 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also honored as the Legion of Excellence Award winner for graduating with the highest senior GPA of the team in 2004.

Post collegiately, Wineberg competed at the national level for two seasons and placed as high as fifth at the indoor U.S. National Meet in the heptathlon. While training and competing at a national level, Wineberg also served as a volunteer coach for the UC track program, working with the long and high jumpers.

In 2006, Wineberg was hired as an assistant coach to work with the men's and women's sprinters. He now serves the long sprints, multi events and high jump coach. Over his coaching career, he has seen 30 school records fall in the sprints and multi events. Wineberg has coached 33 all-conference performers, 11 conference champions, 33 NCAA First Round qualifiers, 10 NCAA Championships qualifiers and five All-Americans.

Wineberg is also married to former UC 400-meter standout and 2008 Olympic gold medalist Mary Wineberg (formerly Danner). During her professional career, he served as her training partner for seven years. Mary was inducted into the Greater Cincinnati Running Hall of Fame last year.

Joining Wineberg in the Class of 2014 were Mary Bowermaster, Vern Hawkins, Emily Macleod and Andy Wolf.
