// Key Innings – Game 1
Bottom of the First
Thompson was walked and stole second before scoring on a single by Noda. After another walk to Wallace and a double steal put two runners in scoring position, Thomas doubled to left field to score both Noda and Wallace and give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead.
Top of the Third
Canisius used four hits in the frame to score a pair of runs and get within 4-2 on the scoreboard. The Golden Griffins threatened more runs but a Rodriguez-Mottice-Noda double play ended the damage.
Bottom of the Third
The Bearcats wasted no time getting those runs back, when a single by Mottice scored Thomas and Augustine for a 6-2 UC advantage.
Top of the Seventh
In the final inning of a shortened doubleheader opener, Canisius found its offense and pressured to tie the score or take the lead. A leadoff walk and a single followed by a double steal put two runners in scoring position with no outs. A double by Liam Wilson scored two runs to get the Golden Griffins within 7-5 before Orndorff entered to pitch for the Bearcats. The sophomore delivered consecutive groundouts to the shortstop, giving up a run, but got John Conti to fly out to end the game and secure his first-career save.

// Key Innings – Game 2
Bottom of the Fourth
With his team trailing by a run, Bumpass sent the first pitch of the fourth inning over the fence in right field to tie the game at 1-1.
Bottom of the Seventh
The score was still tied in the seventh when the Bearcats finally orchestrated another run. Thompson drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a single by Alldred. It is then that Haberkorn executed a perfect sacrifice bunt, allowing Thompson to score and earning the winning RBI.
Bottom of the Eighth
Cincinnati added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth when a double by Noda scored McVey and a single by Thompson scored Noda to bring the final score of 4-1.
