// Key Innings
Bottom of the First
The Volunteers jumped all over the Bearcats in the early going, scoring the game's first run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch after just four batters. The next batter, Jordan Rodgers, doomed Alldred with a triple into right field to clear the bases and give UT a 4-0 lead. Colvin entered from the bullpen and gave up a run on a sacrifice fly, but also recorded a strikeout and a flyout to end the damage at 5-0.
Bottom of the Third
Tennessee added a run in the third and threatened to score more before a stellar defensive play by R.J. Thompson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) ended the frame. The junior covered a lot of ground before making a diving catch in left center field for the second out and throwing the ball back to second to get the runner for the final out.
Top of the Fifth
Noda led off the fifth inning with his first homerun of the season over the right centerfield fence. The blast put the Bearcats on the board and cut the UT lead to 6-1.
