// Key Innings

Top of the First
A game-opening strikeout by Orndorff was followed by three straight hits to bring home a run for Northwestern. With two runners on and just one out, Rodriguez flashed the leather at shortstop, snagging a liner out of the air and beating the runner back to the bag for the unassisted double play.
Bottom of the First
Cincinnati didn't waste any time answering the NU run, scoring four times in the bottom half of the inning. Rodriguez singled at the leadoff spot and Alldred took a walk to put two runners on. Back-to-back singles by McVey and Noda brought home the first run while a single by Thompson scored two more. Noda finished the scoring by coming home on the back half of a double-steal attempt to give UC a 4-1 lead.
Bottom of the Fourth
Rodriguez again got on base to lead off the inning, this time with a double. He moved to third on a single by Alldred and scored on a sacrifice fly by McVey. A single by senior Woody Wallace (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) brought home Alldred to increase the UC lead to 6-1.
Bottom of the Fifth
Thompson singled and stole second base before scoring on the first of two triples on the night by Haberkorn. Augustine followed with a single to bring home Haberkorn and push the Bearcats to an 8-1 lead.
