HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team is just one shot off the lead Friday after shooting a first round 314 (+26) to open play at the 2016 Bearcats Spring Classic at El Campeon Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort & Golf Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.

Hosting their second tournament of the 2015-16 season and first of the spring, the Bearcats used a pair of top-five individual placements to close day one just a stroke behind leader Akron. UC was led on the day by a four-over par 76 from sophomore Christina Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) including a pair of birdies, both of which on the front nine holes. Junior Tara Liebert (Mason, Ohio/Mason) was only a stroke behind with a 77 which put her in a tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard. UC also had four players at plus-nine on the day including two scorers and two individual players.
