CINCINNATI - After winning the first two games of the series, the University of Cincinnati baseball team fell 6-2 to Memphis on Sunday afternoon at Marge Schott Stadium. The Bearcats' offense came in the form of two solo homeruns by senior Woody Wallace (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) and sophomore Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill/Grant), the team's leaders in homeruns with six and five, respectively.
Despite the loss, Cincinnati remains alone atop the American Athletic Conference standings with an 8-4 record in league play. Tulane, which UC beat twice last weekend, is half a game back with a 7-4 mark while next week's opponent, East Carolina, is a game behind at 7-5.

// Key Innings
Top of the Second
One tough inning for Orndorff allowed Memphis to score five runs on four hits in the second. A leadoff hit by pitch and two singles scored the first run of the day before Trent Turner launched a 3-run homerun, his second of the season, for a 4-0 Memphis lead. Two batters later, a solo shot by Zach Schritenthal gave the Tigers a 5-0 advantage.
Bottom of the Second
Noda led off the inning with his fifth long ball of the season to get the Bearcats on the board at 5-1.
Bottom of the Third
Not to be outdone by Noda, Wallace led off the third inning with his sixth homerun of the season to get UC within a manageable 5-2 score. Sophomore Kyle Mottice doubled two batters later but the Bearcats couldn't score any additional runs.
Bottom of the Ninth
After the Bearcats had kept the score close for six innings, Memphis' Chris Carries put an exclamation mark on the game with his fourth homerun of the season, a solo shot for the final 6-3 margin.
