CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati baseball team honored five seniors in a pregame Senior Day celebration before falling 4-0 to Houston on Sunday afternoon at Marge Schott Stadium. Players Mitch Patishall, Woody Wallace and Devin Wenzel, former player turned student manager Bryan Chenoweth and student manager Zach Scarberry all were recognized with their families on the field.
In the game, freshman A.J. Kullman (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy) gave a solid performance from the bullpen, tossing 6.1 innings without allowing an earned run while striking out a pair.

- With the loss, Cincinnati moves to 23-27-1 on the year and 11-9-1 in The American while Houston advances to 31-20 and 10-10.
- Starting pitcher David Orndorff (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena Polytechnic) (3-4) was saddled with the loss while Houston's Trey Cumbie (4-2) earned the win.
- Sophomore Kyle Mottice (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Jackson) did not record a hit or reach base safely in the game, snapping his 17-game on-base streak and his 11-game hitting streak, which was the second-longest for any Bearcats player this season.
- Junior R.J. Thompson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) led the UC offense with a pair of hits.
- All three games between UC and Houston this weekend were under two and a half hours.
- Houston was picked as the league favorite in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' poll.
// Key Innings
Top of the Second
A leadoff single and a double by Connor Wong put two runners in scoring position with just one out. Josh Vidales them lined a two-run single into left field to score both runners and put Houston ahead 2-0.
Top of the Fifth
With a runner on first and nobody out, the Bearcats looked to base paths with a double play but a fielding error instead put runners on the corners with no outs. A sacrifice fly to right field then scored Houston's fourth run of the game.
