CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team extended their winning streak to four and recorded a second-straight 2-0 weekeind with a 6-1 win over Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point thanks to a quick win from Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./G rayslake North) and awin from Antonella Bramato (Pachuca, Mexico/Elise Freinet) and Caroline Morton (Dubuque, Iowa/Evert Tennis Academy) on courts No. 1 and No. 3

The Bearcats carried momentum into singles play with UC winning on five of the six courts. Poggensee-Wei was the first off, making quick work with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court No. 2 to give UC a 2-0 lead. Anna Philp (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Central) added the next point with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court No. 6.
Bellinger secured the match for UC after a come-from-behind victory on court No. 1. After starting out down 3-0, Bellinger went on to win 13 of the next 16 games to record a 7-5, 6-1 win. Harley Hutchison (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) and Morton each won close matches on courts No. 4 and No. 3 respectively to round out the scoring for UC.

The Bearcats will play their final road match of the season, but will only need to make the short trip across Cincinnati for a meeting with crosstown rival Xavier scheduled for Wednesday, April 5 at 3 p.m.
