// POSTGAME NOTES
  • Tyrell Gilbert recovered a fumble on a punt at the Michigan 38-yard line in the first quarter. The ball bounced, caromed into a UM player and Gilbert pounced on it. It was his first fumble recovery of the season and second of his career. The turnover led to UC's first score of the game, also the Bearcats first points off a turnover in 2017.
  • RB Mike Boone scored on a 1-yard TD run with 2:13 left in the first quarter to put UC on the board. It was Boone's second rushing TD of the season and 22nd of his career. UC has a rushing TD in consecutive games after going nearly 10 games in 2016 without scoring on a rush. Boone's 22 career rushing TDs ties him with Bob Heuck (1910-12) for sixth-place all-time. Boone tallied 44 yards on 12 carries and five receptions for 28 yards, both team highs.
  • RB Gerrid Doaks made his first appearance in a UC jersey Saturday at Michigan. Doaks' first carry went for 15 yards and a UC first down. He finished with 25 yards on six carries.
  • DT Cortez Broughton recovered a UM fumble with 9:35 left in the first half. It was Broughton's first career fumble recovery, UC's second of the game and third of the season. Broughton recorded his first sack of the season in the second quarter. He has 3.5 for his career. He finished with three tackles, including one for a loss and the sack.
  • QB Hayden Moore had a 46-yard run on UC's first drive in the third quarter. It was the longest rush of Moore's career, surpassing his 23-yard scamper at Purdue in 2016. The run stands as UC's longest play from scrimmage in 2017 and UC's longest run play since Kahlil Lewis' 79-yard end around at Purdue in 2016.
  • Moore's rush led to a 10-yard TD pass to Lewis. It was Lewis' second TD of the season and seventh of his career. Lewis had four receptions for 29 yards and a TD.
  • Moore threw a pair of interceptions and both were returned for UM touchdowns. Moore finished 15-of-40 for 132 yards and a TD, He was sacked four times.
  • WR Devin Gray averaged 13.7 yards per catch, hauling in three receptions for a team-high 41 yards.
  • After losing the battle of possession by 15-plus minutes in the season opener against Austin Peay, UC had a much better showing in Ann Arbor, finishing only 27 seconds behind UM, 30:27-29:33.
  • LB Jaylin Minor led the defense with a career-high 11 tackles. Minor has hit double-digits and set career marks in each of the first two games after hitting for 10 stops in the opener against Austin Peay.
  • A number of UC defenders set or tied their career high for tackles, including CB Grant Coleman (t-7), DT Marquise Copeland (6), CB Davin Pierce (4), S Chris Murphy (4) and LB Ty Sponseller (2).
  • P James Smith kicked a career-high 10 times Saturday. He averaged 37.3 yards per kick with a long kick of 49 yards and three kicks dropped inside the 20-yard line.
