BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Tiona Lattimore picked up where she left off last week by running two races and turning the #2 times in program history in both events to lead the way for the University of Cincinnati track and field team as the first day of action at the Indiana Relays came to close Friday night inside the Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ind. The men added six all-time Top 10 marks in program history, including redshirt freshman Nicholas Lauria adding three to the men's heptathlon list in his collegiate debut while the men's shot put produced two more marks on the Top 10 list.

// SUPER FAST
Lattimore continued to light it up on the track and she posted the #2 times in program history in both races she ran. First, she raced to a time of 7.46 in the preliminary round of the 60m, lowering her previous best by 0.02 (7.48 last week at Kentucky) and inching closer to the record of 7.40. In that race, she was the top collegiate runner to advance with only Keni Harrison placing ahead of her. Harrison, who runs for adidas, is the current world record holder in the 100m hurdles. The two battled again later in the day as they ran head-to-head in the 200m with Lattimore finishing second in 23.98 as the duo were the only two under 24 seconds (Harrison ran 23.31). Lattimore, who defeated the closest collegiate finisher in the 200m by 0.45 seconds, is only the second UC woman to run under 24 seconds in a career.

// SHOT INTO THE RANKINGS
The men's shot put produced a pair of all-time Top 10 marks as both Marcus Abraham and Aaron Deaton had big marks. Abraham finished sixth overall with a best of 16.95m (55-07.50) to improve his best mark at UC by 6.75" and better his standing at #4 in the Bearcats' Top 10. Deaton, a redshirt freshman, posted a personal-best mark of 16.47m (54-00.50) to not only record the #8 mark in program history, but also better his previous best by 3' 4.25".

// ANOTHER FAST TIME
Austin Edwards had a solid day as he not only was just 5cm off his personal best in the long jump (7.40m to finish third on the day), he also took part in the preliminary races of the 60m dash and earned a spot in the final. In the short sprint, Edwards ran a time of 6.87 to post the fourth-fastest time on the day while also lowering her personal best by 0.01. His time moved him up one position in the program's all-time Top 10 as he is now tied with Antoine Drakeford (2009) for the #6 time in UC history.

// LAURIA DEBUTS
Redshirt freshman Lauria made his collegiate debut and did so by entering the men's heptathlon, where he scored 2,464 points in the first four events in the seven event competition to stand sixth overall in the field while posting the ninth-best opening-day total in program history. After running 7.77 in the 60m dash for 628 points, he jumped 6.26m (20-06.50) in the long jump to add 644 points. Then, in the shot put, he posted a best of 11.31m (37-1.25) to not on score 565 points, but also record the #7 toss in UC heptathlon history. He closed his day by clearing 1.80m (5-10.75) in the high jump for his final 627 points of the day while also tying for the #10 mark in the program's heptathlon high jump ledger. Lauria will close out the heptathlon Saturday as he will take part in the 60m hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000m run.

// BLAUT CONTINUES TO CLIMB
For the fourth time this season, Loretta Blaut won the women's high jump competition and, for the third week in a row, posted a season-best clearance, this time climbing over 1.83m (6-0.00) to clear 6' for the first time in 2018. The reigning American Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Blaut not only won the event to remain undefeated on the season, but also beat her nearest competitor by 2.25". She currently leads the AAC by 2" and moved up into the national Top 5 for 2018 with her winning clearance tonight.

// MOVING ON
The 60m dash and 60m hurdles preliminary races were held Friday night and several Bearcats did what they had to in order to advance to the finals that will be held Saturday. Along with Edwards (60m) and Lattimore (60m), four other Bearcats also earned their way into another race. On the women's side, Kellsa Mbah ran 7.54, which is 0.02 seconds off her all-time best, to finish fourth in the preliminaries and will be joined in the final by Haisha Bisiolu, who turned in the fifth-fastest qualifying time at 7.62. On the men's side, the 60m hurdles had two entrants with both reaching the finals. Isaiah McCall was fourth overall in 8.23 while Kelvin Williams took the final qualifying spot in eighth with a run of 8.52.
