CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati baseball team opened its 2018 home season in a big way Tuesday night, walking-off against Northern Kentucky with a 5-3 win thanks to a three-run homerun by Treg Haberkorn.
Down 3-2 in the final frame, freshman Joey Wiemer singled on a full count to begin the pressure. Fellow freshman Dondrae Bremner hit a two-strike single through the left side to keep the rally going. Mason DeAnna followed with a perfect sacrifice bunt to put both runners in scoring position. On the first pitch he saw, Haberkorn hit a no-doubter over the wall in right to end the game.

• NKU grabbed and early 3-0 and held on to it for the majority of the game. With two outs, two singles and a walk loaded the bases. A wild pitch allowed the first run of the contest to score before a single scored two more, making it a 3-0 game
Bottom of the 8th
• The Bearcats came back with some late life. Haberkorn was hit by a pitch and made his way to third after a Mottice double. Both scored on a RBI base hit by Manny Rodriguez.
Bottom of the 9th
• Wiemer started the final inning with a single. Bremner followed with a single of his own before DeAnna advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Haberkorn's blast out towards Fifth Third Arena brought an end to the night
