CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball scored consistently throughout the night to take down Xavier 10-7 in a rain-lengthened contest Wednesday at Marge Schott Stadium
The Bearcats scored in all but two innings to beat the rival Musketeers and tied for their second-most hits in a game this season with 13.
The game was stalled by two weather delays. The first lasted an hour in the middle of the third inning. The second delay was ten minutes long and occurred with two runners on and no outs in the bottom of the third.

• UC improves to 18-17 on the year while XU falls to 12-24
• Tristan Hammans earned the win in his first start this season, going 3.0 innings with two runs, four hits, three walks and three strikeouts
• Clayton Colvin earned his second career save after getting his first in the team's previous game at UCF. He threw the final 2.0 innings with just one hit, two walks and three strikeouts
• Jalen Wade pitched well in the middle innings. He went 4.0 with three earned runs, five hits, no walks and three strikeouts
• Offensively, every spot in the batting order got at least one hit on the night
• Kyle Mottice, Manny Rodriguez, Cole Murphy and Treg Haberkorn all had two hits each
• Murphy led the team with four RBI
• Connor McVey had two RBI by going 1-for-2 with three walks

Bottom of the 1st
• The Bearcats started their scoring quickly with a three-run first. Joey Thomas, Rodriguez and A.J. Bumpass all singled to load the bases with one out. McVey then walked for an easy RBI. Santiago reached later on a catcher's interference and Haberkorn was hit by a pitch to make it 3-0
Top of the 2nd
• The Musketeers answered to make it a one-run game. Two singles, two walks and a sacrifice fly allowed two runs to come home
Bottom of the 2nd
• UC cushioned its lead in the bottom of the frame, matching XU with two runs. Bases became loaded again after Mottice singled, Thomas walked and McVey was intentionally walked. With two outs, Murphy ripped a single up the middle for his first two RBI of the night
Top of the 4th
• Xavier hung around with two more runs in the fourth, making it a 5-4 game. The visitors scored after an error, double and ground out
Bottom of the 4th
• UC got a run back when Rodriguez singled and McVey doubled him home
Bottom of the 6th
• The Bearcats' lead grew to 8-4 after a two-run sixth. The first three batters of the inning were walked to load the bases. Murphy then came up big again with a two-out double down the left field line
Bottom of the 7th
• Three infield singles loaded the bases another time for the Bearcats before a double-play ball recorded the first two outs but allowed a run to cross home
Bottom of the 8th
• The final run of the contest came when Bumpass reached on a three-bag error and scored on a single by Eric Santiago

• The Bearcats remain home this weekend to host UConn in a three-game conference series
