CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 6 University of Cincinnati baseball looked to stage a late comeback against No. 2 USF but ultimately fell 9-4 to the Bulls as the Bearcats' season ended at the American Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday night.
UC finishes the year at an even 28-28, posting the best final record since the 2011 season.

• Senior Kyle Mottice had three of the Bearcats' ten hits with a homerun, double and two RBI
• A.J. Bumpass had the team's other extra-base hit, a homerun

• Senior Jarod Yoakam and Tristan Hammans each pitched one inning to finish the game. Neither gave up a run while Yoakam struck out two

• Mottice got the Bearcats' bats started with a leadoff homerun over the right field wall
Top of the 2nd
• Two walks, a single, an error and a fielder's choice allowed the Bulls to take a 2-1 lead
Top of the 6th
• It remained a one-run game until the sixth. The Bulls scored two on a hit batter, double and base hit
Top of the 7th
• A single, double and two-run homerun made it a 7-1 game
Bottom of the 7th
• The Bearcats started to work back with a two-run inning. Dondrae Bremner reached on a fielder's choice, Mason DeAnna singled and both advanced on a wild pitch. Mottice then reached on an infield single to score Bremner. Joey Wiemer followed with a single to right field to score another run
Bottom of the 8th
• Bumpass sent the first pitch of the bottom of the frame sailing over the wall in right field to make it a 7-4 ballgame
Top of the 9th
• USF was able to add two insurance runs in the final inning. Those two tallies came via three singles and an error
