CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball made the short trip across town to Xavier Tuesday afternoon and took a 6-1 contest against the rivals.

• Cincinnati improves to 25-21 on the season with the win
• Xavier drops to 16-32
• Jalen Wade was great in the start, going 6.0 innings with one run, three hits, three walks and seven strikeouts
• A.J. Kullman followed to throw 2.0 hitless frames with one strikeout
• Clayton Colvin went three-up, three down with a strikeout to close out the game in the ninth
• The trio retired 17 of the last 18 batters they faced in the game
• At the plate, Eric Santiago continued his hot hitting with a 3-for-5 day with a run scored and a RBI
• Treg Haberkorn had his second three-run homerun in as many games

Top of the 1st
• Kyle Mottice led off the game with a walk, stole two bases then scored on a throwing error on a failed pickoff when Connor McVey was on first after walk. McVey then started to make his way around the bases. He stole second and moved to third on another error on a pickoff move. Santiago scored McVey with a single up the middle to make it a two-run game early
Top of the 6th
• The 2-0 game opened up to a 5-0 lead on Haberkorn's homerun. Santiago singled and Dondrae Bremner walked to put two on before the round-tripper

• A two-out solo homerun got Xavier on the board
Top of the 8th
• The Bearcats got the run back in the eighth. Mason DeAnna was hit by a pitch and later scored from third on a RBI ground out from Joey Thomas

• UC will play back-to-back midweek games as the team travels for a 6 p.m. contest at Louisville on Wednesday
• The Bearcats will remain on the road this weekend for a conference series at ECU
