UC (3-7-1, 1-1-0) extended its unbeaten streak to three games Tuesday night when it battled the visiting Bradley Braves to a scoreless, double-overtime, 0-0 draw at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats finished the first half with eight shots and two corner kicks. The Red & Black nearly came away with the game winner during the 88th minute when three shots were attempted, capped by a Marcello Jones (Cornwall, England/Truro College) try from inside the box that was saved. Neither team gave up any ground in the overtime periods. Despite leading in the shots column for the game, 20-6, the Red & Black was unable to tally the winning-goal, settling for a 0-0, double OT draw.

UConn (5-2-1, 1-0-1 AAC) is unbeaten in its last six matches -- with, most recently, a cancellation at Providence on Oct. 2. In their last completed game, the Huskies shutout Memphis, 2-0, in Memphis, Tennessee. Dayonn Harris scored the game winner during the 47th minute. Ibrahima Diop put the match away with a goal in the 90th minute. On the season, Abdou Mbacke Thiam leads the team with six scores, while Harris has four assists. Between the pipes, goalkeeper Austin Aviza boasts 12 saves with three shutouts. In the preseason, UConn was picked to finish third in the American Athletic Conference with Jacob Hauser-Ramsey selected as Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Dylan Greenberg and Mbacke Thiam picked All-Conference.

The AAC announced Monday afternoon its weekly honors with junior forward newcomer Rex Epps (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork/Army West Point) selected as Offensive Player of the Week. Epps earned the award after totaling seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) as the Bearcats went 2-0 last week. The transfer has proven to be a much-needed spark for the Bearcats over the past week. Epps had three shots on goal in his Red & Black debut at Memphis on Sept. 23 and followed with seven points over two games. Epps' accolade marks UC's second weekly league recognition this season after Moritz Schaller (Austria/Vienna University) was picked for the Honor Roll on Sept. 3. The last Bearcat to win AAC Offensive Player of the Week was Sean Clarke (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) on Sept. 18, 2017.

Head coach Hylton Dayes is in his 18th season at the helm of the program in 2018. The dean of UC's varsity coaches and the all-time winningest coach in Bearcats men's soccer history, Dayes has won 134 matches in Clifton, reaching the NCAA Tournament twice (2003 & 2006). In 28 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including time as both the men's and women's head coach at Wright State, Dayes is 232-236-63.

The American announced on Aug. 14 its preseason all-conference team with redshirt junior Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) one of 13 players selected to the squad. UC has now had a player named to the preseason all-conference team in consecutive years after Patrick Nielsen was a unanimous pick in 2017, while also being tabbed preseason Defensive Player of the Year. In the preseason conference poll, the Bearcats were picked to finish seventh in the eight-team league.
