CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's basketball announced Friday that freshman Zenzele Apesemaka-Vital will continue with the program as a student assistant coach due to medical reasons.
A native of Waldorf, Maryland, Apesemaka-Vital signed with the Bearcats in November of 2017 and was set to enter her freshman season in Cincinnati. Showing its unwavering commitment to the education and inclusion of its student-athletes, the University of Cincinnati will honor Apesemaka-Vital's scholarship through graduation as she will take on a new role with the women's basketball program as a student assistant coach.
A 5-foot-8 guard, Apesemaka-Vital was a 2018 McDonald's All-American Game nominee as senior at National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland. Prior, she was a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) all-conference honorable mention at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland. In the classroom, Apesemaka-Vital earned magna cum laude honor roll distinction. She is currently pursuing a Psychology degree from UC.
