CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team capped the regular season Friday at the Billy Hayes Invitational at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex in Bloomington, Indiana.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team capped the regular season Friday at the Billy Hayes Invitational at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex in Bloomington, Indiana.
 
The Bearcats won two events with Sam Mikula breaking the tape first in the women's 3,000m run and Sam Meece topping the field in the men's discus throw. Additionally, UC snagged 26 Top-10 finishes, set 15 season-best marks, 15 personal bests and eight UC Top-10 marks.
 
Mikula ran 10:05.35 in the 3k, a personal best and the third-best clocking in UC's history. Katrina Patterson came home third in the same race, clocking 10:15.23, also a PR and the fifth-best time in school history. 
 
Meece recorded a mark 54.47m on his fourth throw to bring home top honors in the men's discus event. He led three Bearcats in the Top-8 as Aaron Deaton was sixth (49.07m), which was a season and personal best and Danny Jones who placed eighth with a toss of 47.09m.
 
DYNAMITE DISCUS
In addition to Meece's win, the women's discus squad placed three student-athletes in the Top-9 who all set season best, personal best and UC Top-10 marks. Malin Smith was fourth after a throw of 50.31m. Smith's toss sits as the second-best throw in school history and also a season and personal best. Annette Echikunwoke placed fifth with the No. 5 mark in school history, a season best and PR toss of 49.11m. Jane Sensibuagh set a mark of 48.03m, her season and personal best and the No. 8 throw in school history.
 
TOPPING THE HAMMER FIELD
Echikunwoke was the top collegiate finisher in the women's hammer throw after a best toss of 63.26m, placing second overall. Sensibaugh had a season best and PR throw of 45.83m to place 13th while Smith threw 41.77m and took 16th. On the men's side, Meece was fourth (57.79m), Jacob Rieman threw 54.18m, setting a season best, PR and the No. 9 time in UC history and Chris Province took 10th with a best effort of 51.41m.
 
BUSY DAY ON TRACK
Tiona Lattimore was the top qualifier in the 100m dash preliminaries and also was second in the 400m. Lattimore clocked 11.82 in the 100 and 54.16 in the 400m, which was a season-best time. 
 
CRACKING THE TOP-10
Aaron Deaton threw 16.49m in the men's shot put, a season best, PR and the No. 10 time in UC history.
Allie Plybon was third in the women's pole vault after clearing 3.95m, which is the seventh-best effort in UC history along with setting a season best and PR.

The postseason begins on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Wichita, Kansas.
