CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer head coach Hylton Dayes announced Wednesday the addition of Matt Deming to his staff as an assistant coach.
Deming spent the past five seasons at Lehigh where he was an assistant. He played collegiate soccer at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania from 2003-07.
"We are excited to have Matt join our staff," said Dayes. "He is an excellent young coach with a great track record of training and developing college goalkeepers. He is also a good recruiter with contacts in areas that will help us as we look to expand our recruiting efforts. We welcome him, his wife, Kali, and their son, Bodie, to the UC and Cincinnati communities."
At Lehigh, Deming helped guide the Mountain Hawks to the program's second-ever Patriot League Championship and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015. Prior to joining the Lehigh coaching staff, he was a graduate assistant coach at Lock Haven from 2011-13. At his alma mater, he assisted with all facets of the program and helped guide the Bald Eagles to a regular-season league championship in 2011.
"Matt has been an integral part of our coaching staff these past five years and will be sorely missed by everyone associated with the program," said Lehigh men's soccer head coach Dean Koski. "He is a terrific goalkeeper coach, tactician, recruiter and cares a great deal about student-athlete development and personal growth. While we are sorry to lose him, we are delighted that he is moving on to a very good soccer program and one of the toughest conferences in Division I soccer."
Deming earned a pair of degrees from Lock Haven: a bachelor's degree in recreation management in 2008 and a master's degree in sports administration in 2011.
"I'm really excited to join the Bearcats family," said Deming. "I want to thank coach Dayes, his staff, and the UC administration for giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank coach Koski and the staff and student-athletes at Lehigh for helping me develop as a coach. I wish them nothing but the best going forward. I can't wait to hit the ground running at Cincinnati and to help the Bearcats achieve success both on and off the field."
