CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team will participate in four events this fall, including once again playing host to the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational, Head Coach Eric Toth announced today. The Bearcats' fall slate will get underway September 20 and wrap October 21.
"Coach Katarina Adamovic and I look forward to getting our squad back to campus to begin preparation for our Fall slate," Toth said. "These Fall events offer our returning players an opportunity to showcase what improvements they have made during the Summer months. For our first-year players, you get a first look as to where each is at competing at the Division I level for the very first time. Ultimately, these Fall events, along with our time on the practice court, shape our team into what we will look like when the regular season begins in January. It is always an exciting time when each season begins and Kat and I look forward to begin working with this year's edition of the Bearcats soon."
The fall schedule will open with the Bearcats taking part in the Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The three-day bracketed event will be hosted by Purdue at the Schwartz Tennis Center September 20-22. One week later, UC will return to the Hoosier State as it will venture to Bloomington for the Indiana Invitational at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts September 27-29.
With two weekends under their belts, the Bearcats will take one week off from competition before returning to the courts October 11-12 when they play host to the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational at the Trabert/Talbert Tennis Center on campus. The two-day event will be a hidden-dual format with all four teams playing singles and doubles matches against one another. This year's lineup features Bowling Green, Chattanooga and Xavier.
Finally, the fall will conclude with the 2019 USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Fall Regional Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The annual competition, this year hosted by Middle Tennessee State at its Adams Tennis Complex, will see competitors from all across the region compete in singles and doubles. Throughout the nation, 12 regional competitions will be held in October with the individuals and teams that win or place second in their respective brackets earning berths into the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
