CINCINNATI - Eric Toth, head coach of the University of Cincinnati tennis program, today announced the addition of Ben Adams to the coaching staff as a volunteer coach. A former head coach for both men and women at the University of Pikeville, Adams currently serves as an adjunct professor of sport administration at UC.

"I'd like to welcome Ben Adams to UC Athletics and our women's tennis coaching staff," Toth said. "Being a recent head men's and women's coach, I feel Ben adds quite a bit of value to our program. There are a lot of ways for Ben to be utilized and Kat (Adamovic) and I are looking forward to working with him. I know Ben is very excited to begin working with our girls and I'm confident he will be able to influence our program in a positive way."

A native of Lebanon, Ky., Adams spent the past three seasons as the head coach at UPIKE, leading the men's and women's programs from 2016-19. His work in that time helped turned the programs around, especially the women. In his final season with the Bears, he guided the women to a 9-5 record just three years after they went winless. That successful campaign also marked the first winning season for the Bearcats in nearly two decades.

Adams got his start in coaching at Menchville High School in Newport News, Va., where he served as the head girls' varsity tennis coach. From there, he served as a volunteer coach at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., working with both the men's and women's programs. He also worked as a staff instructor at the Nike Tennis Camps at the College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, Va.) and was a tennis professional at Kingsmill Tennis Club at Kingsmill Resort (Williamsburg, Va.).

Adams holds a trio of degrees, starting with a B.S. in political science from Louisville (2006), followed by a M.S. in sport administration from Western Kentucky (2015). Most recently, he earned his Ed.D. in leadership from Trevecca Nazarene (2018). He currently teaches a pair of classes in the UC system, including Introduction to Sport Administration and Ethical Issues in Sport.

Adams and his wife, Dr. Natalie Adams OB/GYN, have four children: Carson, Scott, Lucas and Collins.
