CINCINNATI - Chris Borzor, a sophomore sprinter on the University of Cincinnati track & field team, has been named this week's American Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced today. Borzor is coming off a weekend in which he broke the school record in the 200m dash while also becoming the first man in program history to run under 21 seconds for the indoor event.

// BORZOR BLAZING
Competing at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station, Texas, Borzor took on the 200m and 400m events and recorded personal-best times in both events for the second week in a row. Coming into the meet, he was ranked #3 in the 200m and #10 in the 400m on the program's all-time Top 10 ledger. Following the meet, he is the record holder in the 200m and moved up to #6 in the quarter.

In his first race of the day, Borzor took on the two-lap 400m event and crossed the finish line fifth overall in 47.70, running under 48 seconds indoors for the first time in his career. His time not only placed his sixth all-time in program history, it also moved him up to #3 on the season charts in the American.

A short time later, Borzor was back on the track for the single-lap 200m sprint and won the event overall with his time of 20.92. Not only did that time break the UC record of 21.07 previously run in 2004 by Kenny Wade, it ranked as the fourth-fastest time of the week nationally and moved him up to #12 on the NCAA lists.

// HONORS HAUL
Borzor's honor this week is the first of his career and the third won by a UC man on the track in 2020 after Aaron Bienenfeld was twice selected for the accolade.

// AWARD HISTORY
The award earned is the 61st in program history when including cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field since the AAC began selecting award recipients in the 2013-14 academic year. Borzor's is the 23rd for the men all-time and the seventh indoor track honor received, all of which have come in the past three seasons (three in 2017-18, one last year, three this year).

// NEXT MEET
The Bearcats will head to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend as they will compete in the Music City Challenge Friday and Saturday. The meet will be the final tune-up of the indoor season for the Bearcats before they travel to Birmingham, Ala., February 28-29, for the AAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
