CINCINNATI – Both University of Cincinnati track & field teams, along with 11 individual Bearcats, were selected for USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today. Overall, six women and five men earned individual honors based upon their high academic marks and athletic success in competition during the 2020 indoor season (the 2020 outdoor season was not conducted because of the COVID-19 global pandemic).
All told, 463 NCAA Division I teams were honored with the Bearcats women being one of 264 squads earning the achievement and the men ranking as one of the 199 as both recorded at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the academic year. Individually, 659 women and 452 men (1,111 total) were honored for their achievements.
To be eligible for the award, individuals must maintain at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average and meet one of the following athletic standards: must have finished the season ranked in the Top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the Top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
// TEAM HONORS
For the seventh year in a row, both Bearcats teams earned academic distinction from the Association as both met the standards in the classroom. The women combined to post a cumulative GPA of 3.555 while the men posted a mark of 3.309.
