TicketsLEXINGTON, Ky. – Rachel Coghill earned a first-place finish in pole vault at the McGravy-Green Invitational on Saturday. Coghill joined Friday's event winners, Taylor Beard and Malin Smith as the University of Cincinnati track and field squad concluded its first meet of the 2021 season.
The Bearcats closed out the weekend in Kentucky with nine podium finishes, including three in first place, two snagging second place, and four third-place rankings. The women's squad started the season strong with three top spots on the podium for Cincinnati.
Coghill cleared 4.00m (13-1½) in women's pole vault, which marks a new personal best overall, beating out her previous mark of 3.91m (12-10) back in 2019 at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational outdoors. Her best indoor mark of 3.90m came at the Rod McCravy Memorial at Kentucky on Jan. 25, 2020.
Caisja Chandler was third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.43.
Ellie Leather also posted a podium finish in the 3000m placing second with a time of 9:46.07, which also marks a new personal best.
The men went to work in the 3000m where Alec Sandusky placed second followed by his teammate Aaron Bienenfeld who took third. Their times were 8:02.35 and 8:02.56, respectively.
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will take just over a week off from competition before heading to Houston, Texas, on January 29 and then returning February 12 as they are set to compete in the H-Town Speed Series.
