Wilson Nets Career-Best 23 Points In 69-53 Loss To Temple

CINCINNATI – Sophomore guard Caitlyn Wilson had a career-high 23 points, but it was not enough as the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to visiting Temple, 69-53, in American Athletic Conference action at Fifth Third Arena Wednesday.

CINCINNATI – Sophomore guard Caitlyn Wilson had a career-high 23 points, but it was not enough as the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to visiting Temple, 69-53, in American Athletic Conference action at Fifth Third Arena Wednesday.
 
Wilson knocked down a career-best five three pointers and made eight field goals overall as she hit double digits for the first time in a Bearcats uniform and netted her first 20-point game. 
 
Cincinnati (3-10, 2-7 AAC) used a 13-5 run out of halftime to knot things up at 42 apiece with 6:01 left in the third quarter, but Temple (6-7, 6-4 AAC) closed the quarter on a 12-5 run of their own to put the margin at seven, 54-47, with 10 minutes to play. 
 
The Owls put the game away in the fourth by outscoring the Bearcats 15-6. Temple's Alexa Williamson notched a career-high with 21 points to lead the Owls.
 
UC won the battle of the boards 43-38, but Temple totaled 40 of the 69 points in the paint and made 19-of-28 attempts from the charity stripe.
 
Arame Niang finished with her second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and pulling down a career and game high 16 rebounds. She also tallied three blocks and a pair of steals. 
 
Jillian Hayes dished out a career-best eight assists to go along with seven points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
