TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis team fell to DePaul University Friday evening 6-1 inside the Western Athletic Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cincinnati (2-5) battled for the doubles point after dropping the first set 6-1. Kim Gintrand and Ioana Guna surged mid-set, pulling away from DePaul (7-1) and tying up doubles play after securing a 6-4 victory. DePaul finished doubles play edging out a 7-5 win over the Bearcats claiming the doubles point.
Emma Miceli took the Bearcat's only singles point (6-2, 7-6) after a second set rally lined her up for the tie-breaking finish.
Kelli Niehaus dropped early in the first set 6-3, rebounding in the second to force a tiebreaker and the second set win. Niehouse powered through three, falling to DePaul's Maddie Yergler 6-3 in the third set.

"DePaul has a very experienced team made up of girls that have won a lot of matches for that program over the last several years. They played with more poise than us and executed in the most important moments far better than we did. The effort is always good with our group, but our execution needs to improve a bit if we are going to beat top teams on our schedule."
