LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Cincinnati track and field program completed its second day of competition at the Clark Wood Open in Louisville, Kentucky, with one event win and six podium finishes Saturday afternoon.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
The men's distance running group swept the 1500m run, claiming all three podium spots Saturday Afternoon. Tyler Wirth led the pack, crossing the line at 3:46.89, claiming gold and just missing a personal best finish by just over one second. Just behind Wirth was Matt Hoak (3:47.29) and Jonathan Harley (3:47.69) who claimed second and third place respectively.
Julius Hild and Toni Banos were able to outpace the previous meet record in the men's 3000m steeplechase claiming second and third place finishes. Hild claimed a new personal best with a clocking of 9:03.45 and shattering the pervious meet record which was set at 9:24.74. Banos also surpassed the previous meet record by exactly 20 seconds, claiming a fourth place finish with a clocking of 9:04.74
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will take a few days to rest and then start preparation for their final regular season meet of the outdoor season. Slated for next Friday-Saturday, April 30 - May 1, the Bearcats will compete in the Kentucky Open in Lexington, Kentucky.
