TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis program secured a 6-1 win over Butler University Saturday afternoon at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cincinnati (4-9) secured the early doubles point against the Butler Bulldogs (4-6) taking the first two matches (6-1,6-2) with the third match resulting in an unfished decision.
THE BREAKDOWN
Maria Santilli outpaced the competition, claiming a two-set sweep with a pair of 6-0 set finishes against Butler and posting the quickest finish of the afternoon.
Following suit, Emma Miceli claimed her seventh singles win of the season securing a two set (6-0,6-1) sweep of her own. With this win, Miceli projects herself with into the UC all-time record book for total singles career wins, totaling 67, sharing the No.8 slot.
Over on court five, Alexia Coutino, who was celebrating her senior day, claimed her third win in five matches posting a dominating two set (6-1,6-3) victory over the Bulldogs, adding to the Bearcats overall tally.
The Bearcats finished out the match securing five total two set sweeps in singles play to conclude their dominating performances over the Butler Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
Following the match, UC tennis honored its four seniors, Alexia Coutino, Kim Gintrand, Amanda Huser, and Caroline Morton, in a ceremony thanking them for their time and contributions to the program.
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to take on Marshall University, Sunday, April 11, at the 7827 Tennis Center in their last road match up of the regular season.
