CINCINNATI – Former University of Cincinnati running back Gerrid Doaks was selected by Miami with pick 244 in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Doaks was selected immediately following S James Wiggins (Arizona, pick 243) and was the fourth UC player to hear his named called Saturday along with OL James Hudson (Cleveland, pick 110), S Darrick Forrest (Washington, pick 163) and Wiggins.
Over 30 career games, Doaks averaged 5.2 yards per carry on 331 rushes, covering 1,712 yards and scoring 14 times. He missed the 2018 season due to injury.
Doaks' 2020 campaign was one of his most successful, earning First-Team All-American Athletic Conference honors after toting the ball 144 times for 673 yards and seven scores along with 14 receptions for 202 yards and a pair of additional touchdowns. He had three 100-yard games, including 184 yards against UH which was UC's sixth-best, single-game total over the last 20 years and fifth-best yards per carry average (11.5).
He was tabbed for the 2021 East-West Shrine Bowl.
