CINCINNATI – Former University of Cincinnati safety Darrick Forrest was selected by Washington with the 163rd pick overall in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The two-time All-American Athletic Conference honoree was a mainstay on defense and started the final 28 games of his UC career. In 49 career games with 36 starts, Forrest totaled 200 tackles, including 126 solo stops along with 4.5 tackles for a loss. He had six interceptions with 96 return yards, 12 passes defended and a fumble recovery.
In 2020, Forrest was a key part of the AAC Championship squad and a defense which led the American and ranked in the NCAA Top-15 in rushing, pass efficiency, scoring and total defense. UC has forced a turnover in 20-straight games, the longest active streak in the NCAA FBS, and totaled AAC highs with 55 passes defended and 16 interceptions
Following the season, he took part in the College Gridiron Showcase and was invited to the 2021 NFL Combine. He gained some attention at UC's pro day where he ran a 4.41 40-yard dash, put up 22 reps on the bench, had an 11-0 broad jump and 39-inch vertical.
