LEXINGTON, KY – Day one of the Jim Green Invitational has officially concluded with strong performances from University of Cincinnati track and field athletes. Many athletes earned high finishes or spots to advance to the next round of competition tomorrow.
PERFORMANCES TO NOTE
Women's Long Jump: Anaya Dees earned the Bearcats' first win of the meet, claiming first in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.71m (18-08.75). Dees' last jump was enough to take over the first-place position by 0.5". Juliet McGregor finished on the podium as well, earning third place with a jump of 5.61m (18-05.0). The Bearcats rounded out five of the top 10 places with Kennedy Marable in 6th, Nadia Collins in 7th and Sydney Spears in 10th.
Men's 60m Dash:
Three of three Bearcats competing in the men's 60m dash made it to the semifinal round tomorrow. Chris Borzor took first place in his heat with the fourth fastest time of the day at 6.77. Austin Edwards (10th in 6.94) and Steven McElroy (14th with a 7.01 PR) will also compete tomorrow in the 60m dash.
Women's High Jump:
Annika Kinley posted another top-three finish for Cincinnati track and field in the women's high jump, tying for second place with a jump of 1.71m (5-07.25). Katie Straus posted an indoor PR in the high jump with a jump of 1.66m (5-05.25).
TOMORROW
Semifinals and finals in the 60m dash will be held starting at 12:00 p.m. Cincinnati runners advancing to the next rounds after their performance Friday are as follows:
