TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis team swept Northern Kentucky University, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Bearcats improve to 13-4 while the Norse move to 2-6 on the season.
Doubles play started with redshirt seniors Ioana Guna and Emma Miceli dominating on court two, 6-1, to pick up a doubles win on senior day. Freshman Callie Flanagan and redshirt sophomore Kelli Niehaus secured the doubles point for UC with a 6-2 win on court three.
Niehaus bounced back following her only loss of the season so far at Xavier to win on court six over Daniela Rosenberger, 6-1 and 6-1. Niehaus improve to 11-1 in singles for the Spring season.
Both Guna and Miceli earned singles wins on courts two and five, respectively. Freshman Elizabeth Pendergast, redshirt sophomore Cassie McLay and redshirt junior Maria Santilli all also won their singles matches in two sets.
