Pendergast Named AAC Player of the Week

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati freshman Elizabeth Pendergast was named American Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the week, announced Tuesday afternoon. This is the first recognition for any Bearcat this Spring.

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati freshman Elizabeth Pendergast was named American Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the week, announced Tuesday afternoon. This is the first recognition for any Bearcat this Spring.

During a week where the Bearcats went 3-0, Pendergast also went 3-0 in singles action. Against NKU on Wednesday, she defeated Maria Koo on court one 6-1 and 6-3.
Against Middle Tennessee she defeated Lee Barnard in two sets 6-4 and 7-6(4) and in the mach-up against Marshall, Pendergast earned her second win of the weekend on court one in two straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3.
 
Against Middle Tennessee, Pendergast also secured a doubles in when she and doubles teammate Cassie McLay won on court one, 6-2.

In duals this season, the freshman is 8-9 on court one in singles and 8-6 in doubles action between courts one and two. 

Pendergast has helped Cincinnati to a 15-4 record this spring as the Bearcats have won 13 of their last 14 matches.

Pre-season, the Cincinnati native earned a no. 121 national ranking by the International Tennis Association after finishing the fall with a 9-1 record in singles and  4-1 record in doubles action.

The Bearcats travel to Memphis, Tenn. for two American Athletic Conference matchups. UC will face-off against Memphis on Fri., April 8 at 2 p.m. ET and Tulane on Sat., April 9 at 11 a.m. ET.
