TULSA, Okla. – The University of Cincinnati tennis program fell to SMU, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

COACH TOTH ON THE LOSS
"A tough loss today, but a very good effort against a really good SMU team. The doubles play was super close and we were right there in several first sets of singles, but in the end SMU was a little too good for us. All you can do now is reflect on what was a terrific year for this team. I am so proud how we consistently competed day in and day out and the success this group had. It was well deserved. The careers of two terrific seniors in Ioana Guna and Emma Miceli also came to a close today. I am so appreciative of their efforts in the five years they have competed at UC. They have been great Bearcats. We have a lot of pieces in place for our program to continue to have similar or even greater success. The future is bright for our program."

BREAKDOWN
The Bearcats battled in doubles play, winning on court one after SMU took court two. It came down to court three and after a tough back and forth battle, SMU ultimately prevailed and won, earning the doubles point.

SMU went on to clinch courts one, three and five to beat the Bearcats 4-0. SMU improves to 15-8 on the season and heads to the Semifinals on Friday.

Redshirt sophomore Kelli Niehaus finished the season 15-3 in singles action with redshirt senior Emma Miceli not far behind at 14-5.
