CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams announced their official schedule for the 2022 season.

"I am very excited about the upcoming season. We have a great schedule this season," Susan Seaton, head coach and director of cross country and track and field, said.

The Bearcats will kick off their season on Saturday, Sept. 3, with the RedHawk Rumble hosted by Miami (OH) University. A total of seven meets are on the schedule for the 2022 season.

Men's cross country coach Lucas Rothenberger has a lot of excitement for this upcoming season.

"We return four of our five scorers from the conference meet, and we have added three athletes that I think could have an immediate impact on the group that we did not have last year," he said.

Following the RedHawk Rumble, the men's and women's teams will head to East Lansing, Michigan, for the Spartan Invite on Friday, Sept. 16,

After a week break, the Bearcats will compete in the Live in Lou Classic hosted by Louisville Saturday, Oct. 1.

"I am excited about us returning to the Live in Lou Classic," Seaton said. "It has always been an exciting competition, and it's great to have it back on the schedule this year."

Coach Rothenberger said the Live in Lou Classic will be an excellent opportunity for the teams to test themselves against good competition.

Next, the teams will head to Peoria, Ill., for the Bradley Pink Classic Friday, Oct. 14, at Bradley University. It will be the last chance for the teams to prepare for the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships.

Both coaches have hefty goals this season, including finishing in the top three at the AAC Championships and having multiple athletes placed inside the top 15, earning All-Conference honors.

Another goal this season is to improve the team's finishes at the NCAA Division I Great Lakes Regional. Last season the UC men's team finished eighth overall, while UC women's team placed 11th.

The AAC Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28, at the University of Tulsa, and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional is set for Friday, Nov. 11, hosted by Indiana State University. Those who qualify will continue their season and head over to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for the Men's and Women's 2022 Cross Country Championships on Nov. 19.
