CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team opens the month of September by hosting Stony Brook on Thursday at Gettler Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. ET and live coverage will be air on ESPN+. Admission is free and open to the public.
LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Murray State on Sunday at Gettler Stadium. After a few strong scoring chances from the first touch, Brandi Thomsen collected the ball deep in the final third and played it to an oncoming Ashley Barron, who finished it off with her first goal of the season in the 12th minute. The assist is the second this season for Thomsen, who has tallied four points through the first four matches. Cincinnati continued to push the tempo offensively out of the half as Maddie Swingle quickly found Ellie Flower, who beat a defender and notched her first collegiate goal after only 21 seconds of action. The goal at the 45:21 mark is the fastest goal out of a half recorded under head coach Neil Stafford. Anna Rexford recorded her 100th career save off a free kick attempt in the 48th minute. Rexford added three saves on the afternoon to give her nine to only one goal allowed through the first four matches. The Bearcats have now held the shot advantage in both wins this season, outshooting the Racers 12-3.

Rexford was named American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced Monday. This is the second time in her career that she has garnered the honor.
Rexford tallied seven saves last week in matches against Bowling Green and Murray State. She recorded her 100th career save on her first of three against the Racers on Sunday, punching away a free kick attempt in the 48th minute. The latest performance was her third clean sheet of the season, totaling nine saves to only one goal allowed while playing all 360 minutes through the first four matches. The one goal allowed in the first four contests is the lowest under head coach Neil Stafford. Rexford leads the AAC with three shutouts and a .900 save percentage. She is one of 24 goalkeepers in the nation with three shutouts this season.
COMPARED TO THE CONFERENCE
Cincinnati ranks first in the conference with one goal allowed and three shutouts through the first four matches. Cincinnati is one of three unbeaten AAC programs through four matches, joined by SMU and UCF. This is the first time that the Bearcats have been unbeaten through the first four matches under Stafford. Cincinnati also ranks top five in shots (46), points (14), goals (5), assists (4) and corner kicks (16) in the AAC.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
Thomsen is tied for second with two assists and tied for fourth with four points in the AAC. She also recorded her third career goal in the 60th minute of the season opener win over Northern Kentucky. Rexford is back in goal after starting all 17 matches last season. She totaled 1562 minutes with 57 saves, fifth in the AAC. The Bearcats also welcome back 13 players that saw action in double digit matches and eight that totaled over 1,000 minutes last season.
