CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams are heading to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the 2022 NCAA DI Great Lakes Regionals on Friday.
The Bearcats will look to improve on last year's performance, where Cincinnati had two athletes – Alec Sandusky and Ellie Leather – qualify for the NCAA Championships at the meet.

The 2022 NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet will be hosted by Indiana State University and held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. This will mark the seventh time that the NCAA Great Lakes regional meet has been held in Terre Haute.
The meet is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, kicking off with the women's 6K at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 10K at 11 a.m. The women's race field will consist of 33 schools and the men's race will feature 29. A complete list of schools can be found here.
The top two teams in each regional automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, which equates to 18 automatic qualifiers. The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 13 at-large teams to fill out the 31 team field.
For individual qualifiers, the first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the NCAA Championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. For more information on the selection process, click here.
//COACHES CORNER
"Coming off a solid performance at the AAC Cross Country Championships, the women are ready for another opportunity to toe the line and show everyone what Bearcats are made of," women's coach Sarah Anderson said. "Being ranked 11th in the region, we are looking to rewrite the record books and have one of the highest finishes in UC history. Rylee and Maddie had phenomenal runs at the AAC championships, and if they race strong and smart this weekend, they could make a run for an NCAA individual spot. Our motto going into the weekend is; run with courage, run for your teammates, and be fearless in the pursuit."
"The Men's team is excited for another opportunity to get out and compete against very good competition," men's coach Lucas Rothenberger said. "We left the conference meet a bit disappointed because we felt like we let a good opportunity slip through our hands. Training has gone well the last two weeks, and we are in a really nice spot heading into the competition this weekend; I have sensed more confidence from the group this last week, which was a bit lacking prior to conference championships. No different than the rest of our competitors, we have had to manage some setbacks the past week to 10 days coming off conference championships, but I really do believe we will be ready to race at a high level come Friday morning in Terre Haute"
