CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team opens its dual match season when the Bearcats travel to take on Butler inside Butler Bubble on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET.

Cincinnati is coming off a fall season that saw four Bearcats compete at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships. Redshirt junior Kelli Niehaus secured a team-high five singles wins.

The Bearcats return eight from last season's team, including AAC All-Conference honoree sophomore Elizabeth Pendergast. Cincinnati posted with a 16-7 overall dual match record that featured a program-record 11-match win streak. The 16 wins are the most under head coach Eric Toth since the Bearcats produced a 17-7 finish in 2017.

The program also placed ninth in the ITA's Ohio Valley Region, its first appearance in the final poll since 2017. Niehaus led the team with a 15-3 singles record, while Niehaus and sophomore Callie Flanagan were the top doubles tandem at 13-4.

Butler enters its fourth season under head coach Mat Iandolo. The Bulldogs are coming off an 8-14 season after winning only six matches each of the previous two shortened seasons. The Bulldogs are led by two-time All-Big East selection junior Natalie Boesing.

Cincinnati remains on the road to face Purdue inside Schwartz Tennis Center next Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
