Women's Basketball Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team had four student-athletes named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team had four student-athletes named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.  

Junior guard Jillian Hayes, junior forward/center Malea Williams, senior forward Jadyn Scott and senior guard Jada Scott earned selections for their contributions on and off the court.  

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50, be a sophomore academically, have a year-in-residence at their current school and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. Academic All-America voting will continue now until Tuesday, Feb. 28. 

Hayes holds a 3.73 GPA and is majoring in interdisciplinary studies. She is a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll selection and was the program's Legion of Excellence honoree. Hayes is the only Bearcat to start all 26 games and leads the team in multiple categories, including points, rebounds, blocks, steals. She is averaging 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.5 steals in 31.7 minutes per game and has led the team in scoring in a team-high 12 contests. 

Hayes has posted eight double-doubles this season to extend her career total to 11.  

Williams possesses a 3.61 GPA and is majoring in interdisciplinary studies. She has earned a 3.0 GPA each semester she has been here. Williams is averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 17.2 minutes per game. 

Williams is tied with Hayes with a team-leading 36 blocks, which ranks second in the conference and 75th nationally as of Feb. 20. She set the individual program record with seven blocks at Wichita State on Dec. 30.  

Jadyn Scott has a 3.73 GPA as a liberal arts major. She has been selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll all four seasons. Scott has started nine games this season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds on 45.8 percent from the field in 12.9 minutes per game. She set a season-high with 12 points, one shy of her career high, at East Carolina on Jan. 18. Both of her double-digit scoring games this season have come in conference action.  

Jada Scott boasts a team-best 3.94 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. Similar to her twin sister, she has been selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll four times. She has started seven games and is averaging 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds on 35.4 percent from the field in 11.4 minutes per game this season.
