CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team celebrates Senior Night against conference leader No. 25-ranked South Florida inside Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET. The regular season finale will be streamed on ESPN+.
Cincinnati will honor four seniors – Caitlyn Wilson, Sofia Gritzali, Jada Scott and Jadyn Scott. The Bearcats will also recognize four-year head manager Turner Hahn and student assistant coach Jana Abdullah.
Wednesday will be the 39th overall meeting and the first of the season between the conference opponents. South Florida leads the series 22-16 overall and 9-7 in Cincinnati. The Bearcats are looking to snap a four-game losing streak to the Bulls.
Bearcats' Braylyn Milton hit a driving layup to erase an 18-point deficit with 31 seconds remaining and force overtime before Cincinnati fell 64-54 to UCF inside Addition Financial Arena on Feb. 25. The Bearcats held the Knights to 14 second-half points, including only three points in the fourth quarter, and 13.0 percent on 3-23 from the field in the second half.
Junior forward/center Malea Williams finished with a career-high 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a career-high 35 minutes against the Knights. Junior guard Jillian Hayes finished with 16 points, her 22nd double-digit scoring game of the season. The Bearcats forced 20 Knights' turnovers, their ninth game forcing 20-plus turnovers this season.
The South Florida Bulls are 25-5 overall, 14-1 in the AAC in their 23rd season under head coach Jose Fernandez. South Florida is 9-1 on the road this season. The Bulls are averaging 68.3 points and allowing 58.9 points per game on the road this season, a +9.4 margin.
Senior guard Elena Tsineke leads the Bulls with 17.6 points per game. She is one of three players averaging double figures with redshirt senior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu posting a double-double of 17.0 points and 12.6 rebounds and junior guard Sammie Puisis adding 16.1 points per game. The Bulls lead the conference and rank near the top of the nation in multiple categories, including ranking fourth nationally with a +10.9-rebounding margin and 30th nationally with a 45.3 field goal percentage.
