Albuquerque, N.M.— University of Cincinnati seniors Fred Moudani (shot put) and Taylor Beard (high jump) each earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday.
"A Great showing by Taylor and Fred at the National Championship finishing top 10 in the country," head coach Susan Seaton said. "Fred did an outstanding job throwing within inches of his lifetime best and holding his own in one of the strongest shot put fields ever seen at the NCAA meet."
Moudani capped off his indoor season by becoming a First Team All-American for the first time in his career. He placed sixth overall in the men's shot put with a mark of 20.42 meters / 67'-0". His throw is the second-best of his career and only nine centimeters behind his personal best.
A native of Savigny-Le-Temple, France, Moudani is the first men's Bearcat to ever compete in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships and earn All-America status.
He is also the first UC men's field athlete to earn First Team All-America honors since Adrian Valles placed fifth in the men's pole vault in 2018.
Beard earned Second Team All-America honors for the second time in her career after finishing ninth in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters / 5'-11.5". This was her best finish at the NCAA Championships after finishing 13th in the high jump at the 2021 championships.
The Winchester, Va., native joined Loretta Blaut (2016,18,19) and Erika Hurd (2015,16) as the only UC women's high jumpers to earn multiple Indoor All-America honors in their careers. Her ninth-overall finish is also the third-best finish by a Bearcat in the women's high jump in program history.
Including Moudani's and Beard's All-American honors, Bearcats have now earned 73 All-American distinctions in program history.
